Data Analytics & Engineering Intern (2 Positions)

UNCOMN is seeking 2 Data Analytics & Engineering Interns to join our team and contribute to impactful projects. In this role, you will:

• Assist in designing and organizing relational datasets to support business and operational reporting needs.
• Support development of data pipelines using Python and SQL to clean, transform, and integrate data from multiple systems.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) on structured datasets to identify trends, inconsistencies, and actionable insights.
• Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings to business stakeholders.
• Contribute to AI-enabled process improvement initiatives by preparing and validating structured data inputs.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and analysts to test, document, and improve data workflows.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Must be located in the St. Louis or Scott AFB area and able to work onsite, up to 30 hours per week.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, granted by the US Government, as needed, which requires US citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual’s eligibility.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong research and analytical skills, attention to detail, effective organization and time management, and a positive, eager-to-learn attitude.
• Foundational experience with Python, SQL, or another programming language through coursework or personal projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of relational databases and structured data concepts.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar).
• Exposure to APIs or working with data from multiple systems.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) or collaborative development tools.
• Interest in AI, automation, or large language models (LLMs).
• Participation in relevant coursework, hackathons, or technical student organizations.
