Public Sector Business Development Intern | Zayo

The Tone:
This is an internship at Zayo. Zayo provides essential network infrastructure, including dark fiber and private data networks, to major companies across North America and Europe, fueling innovations that transform society. This infrastructure serves various sectors like wireless, media, technology, content, finance, healthcare, and other large enterprises. As a Public Sector Business Development Intern, you will play a key role in identifying and pursuing growth opportunities within the government segment, directly contributing to connecting vital public services and initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Public Sector Focus: Analyze federal and state funding opportunities for public sector connectivity projects.
• Proposal Support: Contribute to the development of proposals for ARPA-funded connectivity projects.
• Prospecting: Create target prospect lists across new customers, priority segments, and contract vehicles.
• CRM Management: Maintain customer relationship management (CRM) databases.
• Project Coordination: Assist in coordinating with cross-functional internal teams and documenting business development initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Business, Marketing, Arts in Government, Political Science, or BPA. Applicants must have completed their sophomore year and be enrolled for the fall semester of 2026.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required. Experience supporting sales initiatives, assisting in proposal development, and maintaining CRM databases is beneficial for this role.
• Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and research capabilities. Action-oriented and a self-starter who can independently complete tasks and integrate feedback. Interest in telecommunications and network infrastructure.
