Clean Energy Communications Intern | Clean Water Fund

The Tone:
This is a temporary, paid, hybrid summer internship at Clean Water Fund, located in Boston, MA. Clean Water Fund, in collaboration with Clean Water Action, is a national environmental organization dedicated to protecting public health and natural resources, advancing clean energy and climate justice, and strengthening grassroots efforts. This role supports the Massachusetts team by focusing on digital communication and engagement to further clean energy and climate justice initiatives, particularly in Environmental Justice communities. The intern will contribute to meaningful on-the-ground impact by helping to promote strong environmental laws and address local environmental problems.

• Mission: This person will support the Massachusetts team’s digital communication and engagement efforts for their Clean Energy and Climate Justice campaign.
• Tech Stack: Google Docs, Slack, Microsoft Office Suite (plus), CANVA (plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Development: Develop clear, engaging content for websites, blogs, newsletters, and email communications to advance clean energy initiatives in Environmental Justice communities.
• Strategic Support: Attend internal and external meetings, document key takeaways, track action items, and contribute to strategic planning and execution of clean energy outreach goals.
• Multimedia Creation: Create compelling multimedia and social media content that strengthens public engagement around clean energy advocacy campaigns.
• Resource Development: Assist in developing outreach materials, fact sheets, and educational resources related to clean energy access and climate justice in Massachusetts.
• Community Engagement: Support the planning and facilitation of community workshops and webinars focused on clean energy and climate justice.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum of a High School diploma, and currently enrolled in or recently graduated from college/university in a relevant field such as environment or community development.
• Experience: A passion for protecting human health and the environment. Familiarity with campaign organizing in a variety of racial and socio-economic communities, and/or communications is highly desired.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; strong communication skills, both in writing and speaking; comfortable working both independently and collaboratively toward shared goals; ability to complete work and communicate virtually through email, Google Docs, and Slack.
• Bonus: Understanding environmental and climate justice principles; interest and engagement with other social justice issues; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CANVA.
