Graduate Assistant-Career Services Intern | Fayetteville State University

What You’ll Actually Do
• Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group assistance with résumés, cover letters, job searches, and basic interview preparation.
• Program Facilitation: Co-facilitate or lead workshops on career topics and assist with planning and logistics for career fairs and employer events.
• Employer Engagement: Coordinate employer information sessions and support employer representatives during their visits to campus.
• Administrative Support: Monitor the career services email, maintain accurate student appointment records, and support data collection for assessment.
• Outreach & Marketing: Create and distribute promotional materials to advertise services and events, and contribute to social media content.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program at Fayetteville State University, with an interest in higher education, counseling, human resources, or related fields.
• Experience: No specific years required; however, previous experience in student services, advising, mentoring, or customer service is preferred.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, discretion in maintaining confidentiality, and proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace applications.
• Bonus: Familiarity with career development topics such as résumé writing, interview strategies, and networking, as well as experience using career platforms like Handshake or LinkedIn.
