Early Career Systems Engineer
Location
This position is located at a facility that requires special access and will require a government security clearance. Specific locations for salary information include Colorado, Washington, California, or New York City.
Your Mission
Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking an Early Career Systems Engineer to participate in the design, development, integration, and testing of new capabilities for various Department of Defense (DoD) products and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the design, development, integration, and testing of new capabilities for DoD products and technologies.
- Use and contribute to models of real-world weapons, radars, and Command & Control systems.
- Independently identify and address system and software defects.
- Practice sound systems and software engineering discipline.
- Decompose complex problems to formulate effective solutions.
- Utilize mathematical models and simulation products to perform:
- Mission analysis
- ConOps development
- Gap analysis
- Sensitivity and trade studies
- System requirements validation
- Performance prediction in Ballistic Missile Defense and Anti-Air Warfare mission areas.
Basic Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following basic qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent STEM field.
- Problem Solving: Basic knowledge of root cause analysis, problem-solving skills, and statistical analysis.
- Scripting: Proficient in scripting languages such as Python and/or MATLAB.
- Communication: Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and team-based environment.
- Security: Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Desired Skills
Candidates with the following skills and knowledge will be highly valued:
- Basic knowledge of Agile Development Process.
- Basic knowledge of Static and Dynamic Systems.
- Basic knowledge of Statistics, Monte Carlo Analysis, and distributed simulation techniques.
- Basic knowledge of Data Science Principles.

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from a standard 40 hours over a five-day work week, while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time Off benefits.
Salary and Benefits
Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
National Pay Statement (Colorado or Washington)
- Annual Base Salary Range: $20,904 – $67,288
- Benefits Offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
- (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
Premium Pay Statement (California or New York City)
- Annual Base Salary Range: $24,024 – $67,288
