Job Title: Business Operations Intern

About the Internship Program:
APCO is offering a full-time, paid internship program for seniors and recent graduates. This program provides valuable experience in business operations within a global advisory and advocacy firm.
Internship Locations:
This internship can be based at APCO’s Washington D.C. or Raleigh office.
Key Responsibilities of the Business Operations Intern:
The intern will contribute to various facets of operations, including financial reporting, staffing coordination, data analysis, and strategic insights related to employee engagement and talent retention. Working within the North America Operations team, key tasks include:
- Support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Resource Management, and Business Management teams.
- Run reports from the financial system to provide key information to client teams.
- Input staffing plans into the financial system.
- Assign resources based on level and skillset to client account projects using professional services automation (PSA) software.
- Support on tracking and assigning staffing deliverables.
- Recap meetings and circulate notes.
- Create first-draft analysis of financial data on client accounts.
- Create charts and graphs based on data analysis.
- Provide strategic insights related to employee engagement, talent & retention.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- Recent college graduate or senior in class standing.
- An interest in communications, media, advertising, journalism, or related industries.
- Comfort in a fast-paced environment collaborating with a team.
- Excellent data analysis and project management skills.
- Entrepreneurial with strong critical thinking abilities.
- Organized and attentive to detail.
- Able to multi-task and approach assignments independently.
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; particularly Excel.
- Available to work 40 hours per week.
- Requires US Work Authorization; unable to consider candidates with CPT/OPT/Post-OPT status.
Working Hours and Office Presence:
Interns work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. APCO is committed to a hybrid and flexible working environment. There will be days for remote work and days for in-office collaboration to foster culture and connections. A company laptop will be provided to facilitate easy transitions between home and office.
Compensation:
This is a paid internship at a fixed hourly rate of $17.95.
