MAY 2026 PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION INTERNSHIP (Unpaid)
This is a significant opportunity to learn and grow in the mental health field within a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Clinic.
• Pay: Unpaid
• Schedule: Per Diem, Part Time (24 Hours/week – Three days a week 8:30 am-5 pm)

• Start Date: April/May 2026 (Dates determined by Director to assure best clinical experience)

About The Role
The mission of the Clinical Internship program at Arbour is to provide high-quality training and supervision to students regarding the role and responsibilities of a counselor/therapist. Interns will function in a multi-leveled, multi-faceted, and multidisciplinary Behavioral Healthcare System. The program aims to provide students with clinical experience in a setting where quality care and documentation are prioritized. The ultimate goal is for interns to benefit from their experiences at Arbour and move on to positions within or outside of the organization, providing meaningful and quality care to those in need.

What Our PHPs Have To Offer You
This full-year program is designed to provide comprehensive experience and support:
• Hands-on Experience: Direct involvement with Groups, Intakes, Case Management, and Crisis Management. By the end of the program, interns will successfully be able to lead a group, conduct an intake, manage a case, and handle various crisis situations.
• Regular In-Services: Discussions on diverse topics including legal issues in mental health, system navigation, ethics in mental health, resume writing, and job search strategies.
• Extensive Supervision:
• Weekly supervision provided by an independently licensed behavioral health provider (LMHC or LICSW), meeting requirements for graduation and licensure.
• Easy access to additional on-the-spot supervision from supervisors and other clinicians.
• Professional Development: Support for your development as a clinician, as well as assistance with achieving work/life/school balance during and beyond your placement.

Clinical Skills You’ll Obtain
Interns will gain a robust set of clinical skills crucial for a career in mental health:
• Assessment & Diagnosis: Conducting clinical assessments and diagnosing a variety of mental health and substance use disorders.
• Treatment Planning: Developing individualized treatment plans.
• Group Therapy: Facilitating various types of group therapy, including Psychotherapy, Expressive Therapy, and Psychoeducation on topics such as Stress-Management, Anger Management, DBT, Relationship Issues, Self-Esteem, and more.
• Individual Therapy: Implementing effective individual therapy interventions.
• Case Management: Performing case management and aftercare planning/referrals.
• Program Operations: Administering and executing programmatic daily operations for a higher level of care.
• Collaboration: Working effectively with professionals in various capacities and on a multidisciplinary clinical treatment team.
• Administrative Skills: Understanding insurance authorizations, level of care assessments, and medical necessity justification.
• Crisis Intervention: Proficiently handling crisis management, risk assessments, and safety planning.
• Case Presentation: Presenting cases with diagnostic conversations and education.

Qualifications
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Academic Standing: 2nd Year Master Students/2nd Internship (or equivalent).
• Availability:
• Available 24 Hours/week – Three days a week 8:30 am-5 pm.
• Staff Meeting: Required day dependent on location.
• Orientation Session: Date To Be Announced (TBA).
• Agency-wide Intern Workshops: Required attendance.
• Holiday Schedule:
• PHP only closes for major holiday days: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
• Open days before and days after holidays. Holiday schedule is determined in October. Please note that interns are not guaranteed days before and after holidays off.
• Vacation: Interns are able to take up to 4 weeks’ vacation during the course of the year; however, all dates need to be approved by the Director to ensure adequate coverage.
• Legal Compliance: Candidate must possess appropriate citizenship work documentation.
• Pre-employment Requirements: Candidate must pass a CORI and drug test, as well as other pre-employment documentation.
