About Volo Kids

Volo Kids is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to providing free organized sports programs for children across 11 different cities. Our mission is to dismantle common barriers to athletic participation, such as gender, skill level, and financial constraints, while fostering community engagement and bringing diverse groups together through the power of sports.

The Youth Sports Management & Coaching Internship

This internship offers an exceptional opportunity to dive deep into the operations of a leading social sports non-profit. As a Youth Sports Management & Coaching Intern, you will work collaboratively with our experienced team, gaining hands-on experience in a wide range of critical areas:

• Program Operations: Assisting with the day-to-day logistics of running youth sports leagues.
• Customer Service: Interacting directly with participants, parents, and volunteers to ensure a positive experience.
• Data Management: Contributing to the organization and analysis of program data.
• Coaching: Directly engaging with youth participants, leading and guiding sports activities.
• Partner Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with community partners.
• Development & Fundraising: Supporting initiatives vital for the sustainability and growth of Volo Kids.

Comprehensive Training & Career Launchpad

Interns will receive comprehensive training covering essential aspects of sports management, including:

• Equipment ordering and inventory management.
• Storage solutions and logistics.
• Sales strategies within a non-profit context.
• Operational best practices.
• Financial oversight and budgeting principles.

Internship Primary Responsibilities

• Inventory Management: Responsible for the inventory, upkeep, and transportation of sports equipment and shirts.
• League Logistics: Overseeing league preparation and managing day-of event logistics.
• Issue Resolution: Reporting and assisting in the resolution of any issues involving players, parents, referees, or coaches.
• Volunteer Support: Providing guidance and answering questions from volunteers regarding drills and their roles.
• Communication: Managing weekly communication to parents and volunteers, ensuring they are well-informed.
• Administrative Support: Providing comprehensive administrative and clerical support across all departments.
• Reporting & Data Entry: Assisting with game reports, customer service inquiries, scheduling, and data entry tasks.
• Audits & Evaluations: Supporting league audits and evaluations to ensure program quality and effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Team Player: Works effectively in a team atmosphere.
• Self-Starter: Requires minimal supervision and direction; is self-reliant and eager to take on any task, big or small.
• Academic Status: Currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate.
• Professionalism: Punctual and professional, while embracing a “work hard, play hard” attitude.
• Background Check: Ability to pass a background check (provided by Volo Kids).

• Coaching Experience: Previous experience coaching youth sports is highly valued.
• Communication Skills: Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Leadership & Initiative: A self-directed leader who takes initiative and adopts a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving; demonstrates a strong willingness to learn and improve.
• Client-Focused: Comfortable interacting with all types of clients and decision-makers; consistently able to prioritize the customer to best solve their problems.
• Customer Service Excellence: Strong customer service skills are paramount.
