Internship Structure & Commitment:

  • Project-Based: Focus on meaningful projects, with required skills varying by project needs.
  • Work Schedule:
    • Part-time: 15 hours/week during the academic year.
    • Full-time: 40 hours/week during the summer.

About the Role: Safety Computer Asset Data Analysis Intern

This yearlong internship is based within the Safety department’s Transit Safety unit. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in ensuring data integrity and accessibility for critical safety operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accessing: Retrieve all Safety Data Tracking Logs from various source systems.
  • Reviewing & Updating: Scrutinize data for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and perform necessary updates within the Safety Data Tracking Logs.
  • Data Entry & Formatting: Accurately enter new data, ensuring proper formatting and integration into relevant databases.
  • Supporting Analysis: Prepare data for team analysis and facilitate effective communication to user groups.

Qualifications

Educational Experience/Requirements:

  • Preferred Major(s): Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • Preferred Level of Education: College sophomore and above
  • Required Enrollment Status: Full-time (as defined by your academic institution) in a degree program at an accredited college or university.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work within a normal office environment.
  • Must be able to comply with office policy requiring on-site work twice per week.
  • Capable of light physical activity, including walking outdoors and climbing stairs.
  • May be required to assist with audits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong Computer Proficiency:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • General computer skills
  • Data Analysis & Visualization:
    • Good analytical and critical thinking skills
    • Experience with creating graphs, charts, and dashboards
    • Knowledgeable in Power BI
    • Skilled in report writing
  • Communication:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational & Project Management:
    • Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail
    • Good project management skills
  • Software & Tools:
    • Proficiency with SharePoint
    • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts is a plus.

  • Salary: Final salary will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate and may be higher or lower than target.
