About the Job: Project Analyst Intern (Summer 2026)
ECS is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Analyst Intern to join our team in Fairfax, VA for the Summer of 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in project management and administrative support within a dynamic environment focused on cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD).
As a Project Analyst Intern, you will play a crucial role in providing essential support to our Project Management team, contributing to the efficient operation and success of several ongoing projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring smooth daily activities, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and facilitating effective communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders, including government customers and vendors.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Project Management team, providing direct support for daily operational activities.
- Efficiently schedule meetings, develop clear agendas, accurately publish meeting minutes, and meticulously track action items to ensure timely completion.
- Support the creation and management of user accounts and actively track JIRA Tickets to monitor progress and issues.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Risk Register, managing identified risks, outlining mitigation actions, and planning contingencies to minimize potential impacts.
- Assist in the preparation and support of weekly Program Meetings with Government Customers, ensuring all necessary documentation and presentations are ready.
- Maintain and organize team documentation, ensuring all project-related information is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Develop and maintain MS Project Plans and Schedule documents, contributing to effective project planning and tracking.
- Collaborate closely with vendors and customers to ensure efficient tasking and smooth project execution.
- Assist the Project Manager with estimating project costs, contributing to budget planning and management.
- Support the Project Manager across all phases of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, and closing.
- Provide operational support to the Project Manager related to procurement processes, staffing needs, and ongoing program initiatives.
Required Skills:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Analysis, Imagery Analysis, Defense, Security, Business, Project Management, Finance, Information Technology, or a similar discipline.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and O365, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Exceptional planning capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, and proven experience in data collection and analytical tasks.
- A proactive and highly organized individual with incredibly strong attention to detail.
- A critical thinker with the ability to effectively tackle discrete objectives while consistently maintaining focus on the bigger picture and broader strategic goals.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to expertly balance multiple, competing priorities and execute tasks accordingly in a fast-paced environment.
- A motivated, self-starter who enthusiastically tackles challenging operational problems and can quickly grasp and implement creative solutions.
- A proven track record of self-improvement and continuous learning, eager to expand knowledge and skills.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of Agile, Kanban, and/or JIRA methodologies.
- DoD 8570 Security Certificate (CompTIA Security+).
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Certification.
- Experience with JIRA ticketing systems.
- Knowledge of government contracts and purchasing processes.
- Familiarity with the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARs) and Government Procurement procedures.
