Job Description:

This is for a 10 to 12-week Supply Chain Professional Development Program (PDP) Internship at BASF, designed to immerse participants in dynamic Operations and Supply Chain teams. The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and work on impactful projects that support business objectives, collaborating closely with seasoned professionals.

Program Overview and Objectives:
• Gain insights into BASF’s supply chain processes and strategies.
• Develop essential skills in logistics, inventory management, and process optimization.
• Accelerate career growth through leadership opportunities and strategic insights critical for a successful future in supply chain management.
• Engage in a dynamic environment, tackling diverse challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and adapting to rapidly changing situations.
• Innovate and problem-solve in real-time, making every day an exciting and unique experience.

Key Areas of Impact / Responsibilities:
Customer Support and Planning: Involvement in demand, import, raw material, or production planning.
Efficient Goods Flow: Ensuring that goods and services flow efficiently from suppliers to customers to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency.
Coordination of Logistics: Coordinating transportation, warehousing, and distribution, utilizing strong analytical skills to assess routes, manage shipping costs, and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Supply Management and Inventory Control: Overseeing the supply of products to meet customer demand, monitoring stock levels, forecasting demand, and implementing inventory control systems to prevent losses due to excess inventory and reduce holding costs, thereby increasing profitability.
Continuous Process Improvement: Assessing and improving business processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize productivity, which may involve implementing new technologies, redesigning workflows, or adopting lean methodologies.

Professional Development:
Digital Tools Exposure: Gain exposure to applications and digital tools such as PowerBI, CoPilot, and SAP.
Project Presentation: At the end of the internship, present a summer project to fellow interns, BASF employees, and senior leaders, showcasing impact and contributions.
Mentorship: Each intern will be assigned a peer mentor (a full-time program participant) who will serve as a guide. This fosters expertise development, networking at senior levels, and establishing potential long-term mentoring relationships.
Networking:
• Opportunity to participate in Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) at their assigned site.
• Expand networks, grow personally and professionally, and learn valuable skill sets through engaging across the business.
• Participate in a week-long orientation at BASF headquarters in New Jersey, offering engagement with alumni and executive leadership.
• Collaborate with full-time P/LDP program participants to organize and participate in a community service volunteer day in celebration of National Intern Day.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Student majoring in Supply Chain or Logistics.
Graduation Date: Between May 2027 and July 2029.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions.
Mobility/Relocation: Must be mobile-minded and willing to relocate anywhere in the country during and after the program, as all assignments are in-person or hybrid. This enhances exposure to diverse business environments and global operations.
Experience:
• Demonstrated previous leadership experience and academic achievement.
• Active participation in extracurricular activities and on-campus organizations.
Previous internship/co-op experience is preferred.
Project management experience is beneficial.
Skills:
• Familiarity with tools such as PowerBI, SAP, and advanced Excel proficiency is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as CoPilot is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills (implied by tasks like assessing routes, managing shipping costs).
Interests: Strong interest in the manufacturing or chemical industry.

Post-Internship Opportunities:
• Interns will be assessed for a potential returning internship offer or a full-time position in BASF’s 2-year rotational program.
Mobility is crucial, with potential full-time locations including New Jersey, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, and Louisiana.

Compensation Data:
• The competitive pay range for this role is $1,387 – $1,993 semi-monthly.
• Actual pay and sign-on bonuses will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
