Job Title: Quantitative Research Intern

Overview:
As a Quantitative Research Intern at Susquehanna, you will engage in projects that closely mimic the work of full-time employees, offering a realistic and challenging experience. The internship features a comprehensive education program and direct interaction with top-tier mentors, designed to build foundational knowledge in quantitative finance. A core component of the role is the opportunity to build alphas on an actual trading strategy, contributing directly to real-world applications.

Key Responsibilities & What You Can Expect:

Modelling: Apply advanced techniques including probability theory, statistical analysis, and machine learning to predict market behavior and generate profitable trading signals (alphas).
Execution: Develop and implement strategies to effectively execute modelling ideas, operating under conditions that simulate competitive market environments.
Evaluation: Rigorously backtest developed ideas using historical market data, iterating and revising strategies based on empirical performance.
Breadth: Gain exposure to the full spectrum of quant work and explore various areas across Susquehanna’s diverse business operations.
Education: Participate in a structured and comprehensive education program, complemented by personalized mentorship from experienced professionals to significantly accelerate your professional growth.
Collaboration: Work within an open and highly collaborative environment, facilitating interaction with multiple teams and providing exposure to different groups and parts of the business.

Compensation & Perks:
For the ten-week program, Master’s Quantitative Research interns will receive a $5700 weekly base salary. Additionally, interns will benefit from a signing bonus, housing, breakfast and lunch, and various other perks.

Opportunities for this internship are available in Philadelphia and New York offices.

Qualifications – What We’re Looking For:

Academic Background: Currently pursuing a Master’s degree (in penultimate or final year) in highly quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or Economics.
Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability as an analytical problem-solver with excellent logical reasoning and a strong passion for transforming data into actionable decisions.
Communication: Clear communication skills are essential for thriving in a fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment.
Programming Proficiency: Comfortable processing and analyzing large data sets, particularly proficient in Python. Experience with C++ (or another low-level language) is a significant plus.
Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated interest in strategic games and/or competitive activities, indicating a capacity for strategic thought.
Work Ethic: Self-motivated and a quick learner, adept at thriving in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
