Job Description
Job Title: Rotating Internship Programme – Veterinary Specialist
Number of Positions: 6
Start Date: Late February 2026
Location: Chestergates Veterinary Specialists, Chester
Type of Position: 12-month fixed-term
Programme Goal:
This internship programme is designed to help enthusiastic and highly motivated vets achieve their career goals, preparing them for future leadership roles and advanced postgraduate training, such as residencies. It aims to develop interns’ knowledge, clinical reasoning, and diagnostic skills. Past interns have successfully transitioned into various paths, including returning to general practice or securing residency positions in their chosen specialities.
Key Responsibilities and Activities:
• Work under the supervision of specialists across a wide range of disciplines (anaesthesia, internal medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, neurology, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology, and oncology).
• Gain experience in emergency and critical care (ECC) by working within the centre’s out-of-hours first opinion practice, supported by a caring team.
• Actively participate in and prepare for journal clubs, seminars, clinical reviews, and other academic activities.
• Engage in both formal and informal learning opportunities.

Requirements:
• Must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
• Ideally, candidates will already have a sponsored visa, but all applicants are encouraged to apply as visa sponsorship will be considered on an individual basis.
