Intern, Laborer Union Undergraduate Year Round – Reapplication & Bus Services, Onsite | Sandia National Laboratories

The Tone:
This is a year-round undergraduate internship at Sandia National Laboratories, located in Albuquerque, NM. Sandia is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab, focused on national security and technology innovation with a broad array of cutting-edge work. This role is crucial in supporting the lab’s essential logistics operations by managing property control, utilization, and disposition. The intern directly contributes to strengthening the overall supply chain effectiveness and supporting national nuclear nonproliferation objectives.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Year-Round (Part-time during academic year, full-time during summer)
• Location: In-person, Albuquerque, NM

• Team: Logistics Operations (4760), specifically within the Reapplication and Bus Service Department (4763-1) and the Reapplication team (4763-1)
• Mission: This role supports mission-enabling services that strengthen supply chain effectiveness through property control, utilization, and disposition, contributing to national nuclear nonproliferation objectives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations: Perform essential operations that support Reapplication and Bus Services for the lab.
• Asset Management: Dismantle, sanitize, and reconstruct computers, hard-drives, computing assets, laboratory equipment, and various computer peripherals.
• Equipment Operation: Operate a forklift to safely load and unload trucks and trailers.
• Property Logistics: Collaborate with teammates to pick up and deliver excess and reutilized property across the facility.
• Disposition Planning: Organize all excess property and accurately place items on an approved disposition path.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0.
• Experience: Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Skills: Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, and capability to work onsite. The ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling may be required.
• Bonus: Experience working within a team environment, ability to provide excellent customer service, adherence to safety protocols, and the capacity to learn quickly and work independently. Preferential consideration is given to applicants from economically disadvantaged families.
