The Tone:
This is a full-time role at VITAS Healthcare, based out of a local office and actively engaging across a designated territory. VITAS is the nation’s leading end-of-life care provider, a mission-driven organization built on compassion and support. This role is crucial for educating healthcare professionals about the invaluable benefits of hospice care, ensuring patients and families receive comfort, dignity, and peace at life’s most important moments.

• Location: In-person, local VITAS office and designated territory
• Mission: Educate healthcare professionals and leaders about hospice care to ensure patients receive timely, beneficial end-of-life support and advocacy.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Relationships: Build trusted relationships with physicians, healthcare leaders, and other healthcare professionals.
• Guidance: Confidently guide referral sources through understanding prognostication, the value proposition of hospice, and effective conversations for families facing serious illness.
• Advocacy: Champion the benefits of the Medicare hospice benefit to ensure broader access to care.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively alongside clinical partners to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field (preferred), or relevant licenses (RN, LPN/LVN, SW).
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of sales experience or experience in healthcare services. Demonstrated knowledge and successful application of a needs-satisfaction selling process. Proven ability to manage a territory, conduct sales calls, and build long-term business partnerships to achieve sales goals. Experience in a competitive team environment involving individual accountability.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, including critical thinking and creative solutions. Excellent customer service, sense of urgency, and problem-solving abilities. Strong interpersonal skills across all organizational levels. Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Bonus: Past military service, experience with volunteer organizations, or prior hospice experience.
