About the NVA Externship Experience:

This externship is designed to provide invaluable hands-on clinical experience, preparing students for the realities of a professional veterinary career.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities:
As an extern, you will work directly with supervising Associate Veterinarians to:
- Gain proficiency in gathering comprehensive patient histories.
- Practice and refine skills in performing thorough physical exams.
- Assist in the creation of effective treatment plans.
- Participate in various diagnostic procedures.
- Observe and assist with dentistry services.
- Engage in observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures.
- Develop expertise in the medical management of patients.
- Enhance crucial communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Program Duration:
Externship experiences typically range from two to eight weeks, with flexibility based on student availability and hospital scheduling.
Qualifications:
- Designed specifically for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
Stipend & Benefits:
Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
