This is an internship role at Alabama Dealflow, located remotely. This role is crucial for fulfilling the platform’s mission to enhance visibility for promising ventures being built in Alabama and streamline their access to necessary capital. The Venture Scout directly contributes to identifying these key opportunities, ensuring the platform’s curated dealflow remains robust and impactful.

• Mission: Identify and evaluate promising early-stage startups across Alabama to build a strong pipeline for investors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Identify: Identify and source high-potential early-stage startups across Alabama from accelerator cohorts, university spinouts, and independent founders.
• Research: Research emerging companies and industry trends to gather comprehensive information for internal review and platform content.
• Screen: Conduct preliminary screening of startup opportunities, evaluating basic financial or traction metrics and market data.
• Summarize: Prepare concise company summaries and ecosystem briefs, synthesizing key insights for the Alabama Dealflow team and investor outreach.
• Support: Collaborate with the team to maintain an up-to-date pipeline of startups and contribute insights that inform investor engagement strategies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student or early career individual with a strong interest in venture capital, early-stage startups, or economic development.
• Experience: Demonstrated research and analytical abilities, including comfort reviewing startup information, market data, and basic financial or traction metrics.
• Skills: Clear written and verbal communication, organizational and time-management, ability to work independently and collaborate virtually, responsible handling of confidential information, comfort using online tools and platforms for research and data entry.
• Bonus: Familiarity with the Alabama or Southeast innovation ecosystem; relevant coursework or experience in business, finance, entrepreneurship, or economics.
