What You’ll Actually Do
• Inspection: Complete thorough cosmetic inspections of vehicles, meticulously identifying all necessary reconditioning and repairs to meet CarMax’s proud standards.
• Component Repair: Skillfully repair and replace small plastic and other interior and exterior parts, ensuring all vehicle components are in good working order.
• Surface Finishing: Perform precise paint retouching, post-paint finishing, waxing, and buffing to restore vehicles to an “as good as new” aesthetic.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that each car consistently meets CarMax’s exacting standards for appearance and quality, maintaining a consistent look and feel across all vehicles.
• Compliance & Safety: Adhere to and actively promote CarMax’s high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization within the work environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Core domain knowledge in vehicle cosmetic detailing and reconditioning, with a particular focus on paintwork and interior restoration for used automobiles.
• Experience: Demonstrated capability to execute the transformation of vehicle aesthetics, including tasks like cosmetic inspections, minor part repair and replacement, and comprehensive surface finishing such as paint retouching and buffing.
• Skills: Manual dexterity and physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy objects and walk and stand for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and a customer-focused approach. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Bonus: Prior hands-on experience in one or more areas such as washing, waxing, cleaning, and buffing; masking, sanding, grinding, and applying paint; or removing and replacing small parts and carrying out minor repairs is preferred.
