UX Data Science Design Internship at Oracle Design

Oracle Design is seeking current undergraduate junior-year students and graduating seniors interested in User Experience (UX) Data Science for a Summer 2025 internship. This 12-week program will provide mentored learning experiences in a cohort of creative young professionals at their Bay Area or Seattle offices.

As a UX Data Science Design Intern, you will:

• Participate in boot-camp style workshops.
• Gain hands-on experience in group projects, collaborating with various design disciplines (Strategy & Innovation, UX Design, User Research, Product Management, Product Development, etc.)
• Develop your data science skills and knowledge through challenging opportunities.
• Join a global community of talented professionals at Oracle.
• Have the chance to apply for a full-time, paid position after your internship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on various stages of data science projects, including data pipeline, aggregation, feature engineering, modeling, and visualization.
• Develop models to solve real-world business problems.
• Interact with product and service teams to identify analysis and experiment needs.
• Communicate your analysis findings to product, service, and business managers.
• Demonstrate initiative in understanding project purpose and impact on design and development.
• Ask clarifying questions during stakeholder discussions.
• Proactively seek access to necessary datasets.
• Plan projects with milestone updates to ensure stakeholder alignment on progress and findings.

What You’ll Learn:

• Analyze and generate insights from extensive user behavior data in cloud applications.
• Understand key metrics and KPIs used by enterprise companies to evaluate product usability at scale.
• Collaborate with other data scientists to provide impactful insights for Oracle.
• Master the importance of visual communication through chart design for stakeholder impact.

Qualifications:

Objective Minimum Qualifications:
• Current undergraduate junior-year student graduating in summer or fall 2026, studying Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Strong academic achievement.
• Proven interest in technical areas of study and AI.
• Available full-time (40 hours/week) from May-August 2025, or June-September 2025.
• No more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience in a relevant field (excluding internships, research/teaching assistant roles, and military experience).
• Ability to work from offices in Redwood City, CA or Seattle, WA.
• Attending a university in the USA.
• Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Expected graduation in May 2026 or later.
• Fluency with SQL and Python or R.
• Proficiency with data processing packages (e.g., pandas, tidyverse, dplyr).
• Passion for UX Research and understanding its business significance.
• Ability to read and write files (e.g., .txt, .csv, .json, .parquet, .pkl, .xlsx, etc.) using a programming language.
• Experience wrangling and cleaning datasets.
• Ability to extract descriptive statistics about a dataset.
• Proficiency in creating clear, informative visualizations to communicate research insights.
• Experience working with large datasets using SQL, Spark, PySpark, Scala.
• Basic understanding of coding environments and eagerness to learn how to use a programming language for big data work.
• Experience with time series data (e.g., click history logs, eye tracking logs).
• Front-end web design & development (Nice to have).
• Experience creating/working with Chrome Extension Tools (Nice to have).
