UX Data Science Design Internship – Summer 2025
This internship is an opportunity to join a team of 900+ multi-disciplinary creatives at Oracle Design, dedicated to making the design profession more accessible and inclusive. As a UX Data Science Design Intern, you will:
• Join a cohort of young professionals: Work alongside other creative interns in the Bay Area or Seattle offices.
• Receive mentorship and training: Participate in a 12-week program with guided mentorship and boot-camp style workshops.
• Gain hands-on experience: Deepen your knowledge and practice new skills through group projects, interacting with various design disciplines like Strategy & Innovation, User Experience Design, User Research, Product Management, and Product Development.
• Develop data science skills: Contribute to Oracle’s data science capabilities by applying your technical abilities to real-world projects.
• Learn from a talented global community: Gain valuable insights and collaborate with an exceptionally talented team at Oracle.
• Potential for full-time employment: Upon successful completion of the internship, you may be considered for a full-time, paid position aligned with your skills and interests.
Responsibilities:
• Work on various stages of data science projects, including data pipeline, aggregation, feature engineering, modeling, and visualization.
• Develop models to solve real-world business problems.
• Collaborate with product and service teams to identify analysis needs and experiments.
• Communicate your findings to product, service, and business managers.
• Take initiative in understanding project goals and impact on design and development.
• Ask clarifying questions when interacting with stakeholders.
• Proactively reach out to gather necessary data.
• Plan projects with milestone updates for stakeholder transparency.
What you will learn:
• Analyze and extract insights from massive datasets about user behavior in cloud applications.
• Understand key metrics and KPIs used by enterprise companies to evaluate product usability at scale.
• Collaborate with a team of data scientists to deliver impactful insights to Oracle.
• Understand the importance of clear and informative data visualization.
Qualifications:
Objective Minimum Qualifications:
• Current undergraduate junior-year student graduating in Summer or Fall 2026, majoring in Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong academic achievement.
• Strong interest in technical areas and AI.
• Available full-time, 40 hours per week from May-August 2025 or June-September 2025.
• No more than 12 months of full-time professional work experience in a relevant field (excluding internships, research/teaching assistant roles, and military experience).
• Ability to work from Redwood City, CA or Seattle, WA offices.
• Attending a university in the USA.
• Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Undergraduate or graduate students expected to graduate in May 2026 or later.
• Fluency with SQL and Python or R.
• Fluency with data processing packages (e.g., pandas, tidyverse, dplyr).
• Passion for User Experience (UX) Research and understanding its importance for business.
• Ability to read and write files (e.g., .txt, .csv, .json, .parquet, .pkl, .xlsx, etc.) using a programming language.
• Data wrangling and cleaning skills, including outlier removal.
• Proficiency in descriptive statistics.
• Ability to create clear and informative data visualizations to communicate insights.
• Experience working with large datasets using SQL, Spark, PySpark, Scala.
• Basic understanding of coding environments and enthusiasm for learning how to use programming languages for big data.
• Experience working with time series data (e.g., click history logs, eye tracking logs).
• Front-end web design & development (Nice to have).
• Experience creating/working with Chrome Extension Tools (Nice to have).
