Job Description
Utility Field Technician
As a Utility Field Technician, you will play a crucial role in the acquisition of field data and the meticulous gathering of information from field notes. This position demands strict adherence to the company’s Code of Safe Practices and safety policies, alongside effective communication with supervisors, coworkers, and external clients. You will be responsible for preparing and submitting required reports and correspondence. A key aspect of this role involves independently designing and preparing construction orders for both overhead and underground facilities within electric distribution systems, ensuring all work applies prescribed standards, guidelines, specifications, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the acquisition and analysis of field data.
- Gather information from field notes to support project requirements.
- Strictly adhere to the company’s Code of Safe Practices.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all organizational levels and external clients.
- Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.
- Design and prepare construction orders for electric distribution systems.
- Apply industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience as a distribution technician or pole surveyor.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Proficiency in preparing technical reports and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) or utility experience preferred.
- Knowledge of computers and software applications (MS Office products) preferred.
- Valid and clean driver’s license required.
- Willingness to travel regionally and potentially for extended periods.
Work Environment & Travel
This position involves regional travel, primarily during business hours, to various utility client territories. Occasional overnight travel is expected, and travel may extend to other territories for up to two weeks on-site if required. The role offers significant advancement potential within the company. This is a fully onsite position based in Nashville, TN.
Job Type & Compensation
This is a Contract to Hire position. The pay range for this role is $21.00 – $21.00/hr.
