Distribution Design Engineer I | Actalent

This role is crucial for developing comprehensive work packages for diverse electrical distribution projects, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards for system reliability.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design and Package Development: Develop detailed design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 138kV.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs and work packages strictly adhere to client safety requirements, design specifications, and industry quality expectations.
• Field Investigations and Data Collection: Travel to various sites to perform essential inspections, gather field data, and conduct necessary assessments before completing engineering design work.
• Engineering Calculations: Execute critical engineering calculations including structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions, and calculating voltage drop and flicker.
• Permitting Documentation: Prepare and develop all necessary permitting documents required by various Authorities Having Jurisdiction to ensure project legality and smooth execution.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil). Early career professional.
• Experience: 0-1 years of professional experience in an engineering role, ideally within the power distribution sector.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, analysis, and communication; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Bonus: Prior experience with specific customer systems like GE Smallworld and Bentley Expert Designer.
