Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of custom automation equipment and robotic systems. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer eager to gain hands-on experience working alongside senior engineers on real-world industrial automation projects from concept through build and deployment. The work involves direct mentorship from experienced mechanical and automation engineers, exposure to robotics, vision systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies, and the opportunity to grow into higher-level engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the mechanical design of custom automation equipment, robotic cells, fixtures, and machine assemblies.
  • Create and modify 3D models, detailed drawings, and assemblies in SolidWorks.
  • Support engineering documentation including bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and revision control.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, and production teams during system development and build.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers.
  • Assist with prototype builds, troubleshooting, and on-site equipment support as needed.
  • Follow engineering standards, safety requirements, and internal design best practices.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications (Highly Desired)

  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in automation, robotics, or industrial machinery.
  • Familiarity with robotic systems, conveyors, or machine-tending applications.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, custom engineering environment.

Work Environment & Culture

This is a fully onsite position in Leander, TX, Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. The role offers hands-on experience with real automation systems from design through build, direct mentorship from experienced mechanical and automation engineers, and exposure to robotics, vision systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies. It provides a clear pathway to grow into higher-level engineering responsibilities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Leander, TX.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range:

$36.00 – $48.00/hr
