This is a Contract to Hire role at Actalent, located fully onsite in Tampa, FL. What You’ll Actually Do
• Site Visits: Conduct detailed site visits, taking field notes that include visual inspections, equipment inventory, measurements, sketches, and photographs.
• Design Calculations: Evaluate the loading of various equipment components, such as transformers, and structural pole loading to ensure cost-effective, safe, and reliable designs according to client specifications.
• Design Execution: Perform electric distribution designs utilizing field notes and per the Utility’s standards, then draft construction drawings for approval by relevant agencies.
• Project Packages: Prepare comprehensive projects and job packages, including material estimates and requisitions, using appropriate software for distribution electrical designs.
• Problem Solving: Develop and implement final design solutions for existing conductor and structural clearance violations and issues to ensure system integrity.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum qualification: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university. Career level: Entry Level, supporting power distribution infrastructure projects.
• Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on design/engineering experience with a fundamental understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
• Skills: Good written and oral communication skills for frequent customer interaction, strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and a desire to learn new concepts.
• Bonus: Experience or basic knowledge of electric utility industry concepts, including primary and secondary distribution systems, utility standards, and general construction knowledge. Basic ability to use design software packages and EIT/Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam are also highly preferred.
