UX Researcher Intern (GMPT) – 2026 Summer (BS/MS) | TikTok
The Tone:
This is a full-time, 12-week internship for Summer 2026 at TikTok, a product of ByteDance. ByteDance, founded in 2012, operates a suite of more than a dozen products globally, including TikTok, Lemon8, and CapCut, driven by a mission to inspire creativity and enrich life. The Monetization User Research team contributes to this mission by serving as the gateway to ByteDance’s business services, enabling clients to seamlessly connect with their audiences and unlock their brand’s full potential. This team’s work is crucial in empowering clients to achieve their goals, explore new opportunities, and create value through ByteDance’s platforms. This internship offers students significant industry exposure and hands-on experience, allowing them to apply academic knowledge to real-world scenarios and lay a strong foundation for personal and professional growth within a global technology company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Product Strategy: Lead strategic research efforts to identify new product opportunities and independently research multiple facets of products and experiences in the global monetization sector.
• User Data Collection: Collect and analyze user behavior using various research methods, including lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs, and online experiments (A/B testing).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other UX Researchers to prioritize research opportunities within a rapidly changing environment.
• Requirement Integration: Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements directly into research plans and execution.
• Findings Advocacy: Present and advocate research findings to diverse audiences through well-structured written reports and impactful in-person presentations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Market Research, Social Sciences, or a related discipline. Demonstrates a strong interest in user research and internet products.
• Experience: Must commit to a 12-week, full-time work period during Summer 2026. Possesses an understanding of common user research methods.
• Skills: Exhibits a strong learning ability, proficiency in critical thinking, and the capacity for effective summarization. Capable of using English as a working language.
• Bonus: Preference is given to candidates majoring in related fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Marketing, or Advertising. Ideal candidates are capable of conducting independent analysis and judgment, possess a strong data sensitivity, and demonstrate a continuous, proactive approach to learning and optimizing their work.
