UX Researcher Intern (GMPT) – 2026 Summer (BS/MS) | ByteDance

The Tone:
This is an internship at ByteDance. ByteDance’s mission is to inspire creativity and enrich life through a suite of over a dozen products, including globally recognized platforms like TikTok, Lemon8, CapCut, and Pico, as well as platforms specific to the China market such as Toutiao, Douyin, and Xigua. These products make it easier and more enjoyable for people to connect with, consume, and create content across various formats. The UX Researcher Intern role is an integral part of the ByteDance Monetization User Research team, which acts as a crucial gateway to the company’s business services. This team’s core purpose is to help clients seamlessly connect with their target audiences, unlock their brand’s full potential, and ultimately inspire and empower them to achieve their business goals, explore new opportunities, and create significant value through ByteDance’s extensive ecosystem.

• Mission: This role focuses on leading strategic research efforts to identify novel product opportunities and conducting independent research on various aspects of products and user experiences within the global monetization landscape.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Research: Lead strategic research to identify novel product opportunities and conduct independent research on multiple aspects of products and experiences within the Global monetization space.
• User Behavior Analysis: Collect and analyze user behavior through a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, including lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs, and online experiments such as A/B testing.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other UX Researchers to effectively prioritize research opportunities within a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
• Requirement Integration: Actively work to understand and successfully incorporate complex technical and business requirements into the design and execution of research projects.
• Findings Advocacy: Clearly communicate and advocate for research findings to diverse internal audiences through well-structured written reports and impactful in-person presentations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must currently be pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in Market Research, Social Sciences, or a closely related academic discipline.
• Experience: A firm commitment to a 12-week, full-time work period during the Summer 2026 internship cycle is essential for this role.
• Skills: Applicants should demonstrate a strong intrinsic interest in user research methodologies and Internet products. They must understand common user research methods, exhibit a robust learning ability, and be proficient at critical thinking and summarizing complex information. The capability to use English as a professional working language is also a mandatory requirement.
• Bonus: Priority will be given to those majoring in related fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Marketing, or Advertising. Preferred candidates will be capable of conducting independent analysis and judgment, possess a keen data sensitivity, and show a continuous, proactive aptitude for learning and optimizing their work processes.
