UX Researcher Intern (GMPT) – 2026 Summer (BS/MS) | UXR Hunt

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at ByteDance, located in San Jose. ByteDance is an organization founded in 2012 with a mission to inspire creativity and enrich life through a suite of more than a dozen products, including TikTok, Lemon8, and platforms specific to the China market. The User Research team focuses on ByteDance’s monetization services, helping clients connect with their audiences and unlock their brand’s full potential. This internship aims to provide students with valuable industry exposure, hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills, and opportunities to explore potential career paths. Interns will utilize their knowledge in real-world scenarios while benefiting from a blend of social events and enriching development workshops to foster personal and professional growth.

What You’ll Actually Do:
• Research Strategy: Lead strategic research to identify novel product opportunities and conduct independent research on multiple aspects of products and experiences within the Global monetization space.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs, and online experiments such as A/B testing.
• Collaboration & Prioritization: Work with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other User Researchers to prioritize research opportunities within a rapidly changing environment.
• Requirement Integration: Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research plans.
• Findings Advocacy: Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through comprehensive written reports and in-person presentations.

The Must-Haves:
• Background: Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Market Research, Social Sciences, or a related discipline, with a strong interest in user research and Internet products.
• Experience: Ability to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer 2026, and an understanding of common user research methods.
• Skills: Demonstrate strong learning ability, proficiency in thinking and summarizing, and the capability to use English as a working language. Must also be capable of independent analysis and judgment, possess data sensitivity, and be able to continuously and proactively learn and optimize work.
• Bonus: Priority given to candidates majoring in related fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Marketing, or Advertising.
