Ubuntu Pro Sales Engineer | Canonical
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Canonical, located remotely with teams across EMEA, Americas, and APAC time zones. Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and Ubuntu, which is widely used in public cloud, data science, AI, and IoT initiatives. This role is crucial for enabling global companies to adopt the latest Linux and open source applications, applying expert insights to solve real-world customer problems. You will play a key part in shaping innovation across various industries through the adoption of Ubuntu Pro and associated technologies.

• Mission: To facilitate and drive the adoption of Ubuntu Pro within the very large Ubuntu enterprise user base.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Requirements Gathering: Collect customer business requirements and provide expert advice on Ubuntu and relevant open source applications.
• Problem Solving: Identify customer challenges with open source technology and clearly articulate how Ubuntu Pro can provide solutions.
• Product Presentation: Deliver compelling presentations and demonstrations of Ubuntu Pro to both prospective and existing clients.
• Product Feedback: Liaise with product teams, providing customer feedback on requirements to influence the product roadmap.
• Sales Collaboration: Work collaboratively with your sales team to successfully achieve common sales targets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative regarding an alternative chosen path. You should be a business-minded technology thinker and problem solver.
• Experience: Practical knowledge of Linux, virtualisation, containers, and networking. Experience with Debian or Ubuntu Linux is preferred. You should also possess knowledge of cloud computing concepts and leaders such as Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and GCP, alongside intermediate Python programming skills.
• Skills: Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills. You must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability, with the confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideas without hesitation.
• Bonus: An interest in large-scale enterprise open source, including private clouds, machine learning, AI, data, and analytics. A demonstrated personal interest in continuous learning and development, evidenced by personal projects and initiatives, is valued. You should also be result-oriented, with a personal drive to follow up and meet commitments.
