Ubuntu Pro Sales Engineer | Canonical

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Canonical, with colleagues working remotely globally. Canonical provides open source software and operating systems, with Ubuntu widely used in public cloud, AI, and IoT. This role helps global companies adopt the latest Linux and open source applications, driving the enterprise adoption of Ubuntu Pro. The position plays a key part in shaping innovation across various industries by applying expert insights to solve real-world customer problems.

The TL;DR

• Team: Global Field Engineering team, working closely with enterprise sales leads.
• Mission: Facilitate and drive the adoption of Ubuntu Pro within the large Ubuntu enterprise user base.
• Tech Stack: Ubuntu Pro, OpenStack, Canonical Microcloud, Kubernetes, Linux (Debian or Ubuntu), virtualization, containers, networking, AWS, Azure, GCP, Python

What You’ll Actually Do
• Requirements Gathering: Collect customer business requirements and advise them on Ubuntu and relevant open source applications.
• Solution Identification: Identify customer challenges with open source and articulate how Ubuntu Pro can provide solutions.
• Product Presentation: Deliver engaging presentations and demonstrations of Ubuntu Pro to prospective and current clients.
• Product Feedback: Liaise with product teams to provide feedback on requirements and influence the product roadmap.
• Collaborative Sales: Work collaboratively with your sales team to achieve common targets.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Exceptional academic track record from high school and university, with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path.
• Experience: Practical knowledge of Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), virtualization, containers, and networking. Demonstrated understanding of cloud computing concepts and leaders, including Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Skills: Intermediate level Python programming skills. Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
• Bonus: A passion for technology evidenced by personal projects and initiatives, and an interest in large-scale enterprise open source areas like private clouds, machine learning, AI, data, and analytics.
