The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Wipfli, located in a Wipfli office or at client sites (local, regional, or national). This Tribal Audit internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in auditing tribal governments and enterprises, contributing to meaningful client work and building future talent for the practice.

• Mission: To support audit engagements for tribal governments and enterprises, developing technical skills and contributing to meaningful client work.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Execution: Assist in planning and executing audit engagements for tribal clients, performing audit, review, and compliance testing procedures.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare or review client-prepared financial statements, footnotes, management reports, and other engagement outputs.
• Data Analysis & Process Improvement: Utilize data analysis skills to discover useful information and patterns, providing support for recommendations and proactively identifying process improvement opportunities.
• Client & Internal Communication: Respond to client and firm associate requests in a timely, accurate, positive, and professional manner, communicating with engagement leaders regarding open items or testing problems.
• Technical Development: Develop technical competency with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), especially related to assigned product lines.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, with a strong interest in tribal governance, public sector auditing, or nonprofit financial services.
• Experience: Entry-level, leveraging educational knowledge to perform accounting-related responsibilities, and a willingness to travel for client engagements (3–5 days/week during fieldwork).
• Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients and staff, along with the ability to prioritize work, follow through on requests, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
