Accounting Intern – Treasury | Herc Rentals
The Tone:
This is an Accounting Intern position at Herc Rentals, a leading equipment rental supplier across North America. This internship provides an invaluable opportunity to develop Treasury skills, supporting Herc Rentals’ accounting and finance teams by actively participating in various projects related to the accounting close and reporting cycle, process refinement, internal control documentation, and system implementations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process accounting cycle: Actively learn and participate in the company’s accounting cycle, including balance sheet account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and conducting financial analysis.
• Generate reports: Prepare internal reports by gathering, analyzing, and verifying information derived from the general ledger and other financial systems.
• Maintain general ledger: Prepare and post general ledger entries while diligently maintaining records and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure compliance: Develop an understanding of Sarbanes Oxley internal control compliance and financial reporting requirements, assisting in their maintenance.
• Support finance initiatives: Research and interpret data to answer accounting and financial questions, and contribute to process refinement and system implementation projects as assigned.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics is required for this entry-level internship; preference will be given to seniors or students who are nearing graduation.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency and practical experience in utilizing Microsoft Excel, along with other Microsoft Office applications, for tasks such as data analysis, reporting, and general office productivity.
• Skills: Exhibit strong capabilities in written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and decision-making. Possess robust analytical and problem-solving skills, alongside a high attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Bonus: A keen and genuine interest in the operations of corporate banking and the functionality of both domestic and international financial systems.
