The Tone:
This is a Summer Internship at AeroVironment (AV), located in Simi Valley, CA or Huntsville, AL. AeroVironment builds advanced autonomous systems, including AI-powered drones and loitering munitions, that redefine possibilities in defense. This role supports the Trade Compliance team, which is vital for ensuring all international business operations adhere to complex U.S. export regulations and global trade laws, directly contributing to AV’s mission of delivering critical technology with speed and purpose.

• Mission: Support AeroVironment’s international business operations by ensuring adherence to U.S. export regulations and corporate compliance processes.
• Tech Stack: OCR EASE, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn: Shadow trade compliance professionals and attend training sessions to gain exposure to daily operations and U.S. export laws, including ITAR and EAR.
• Utilize: Gain practical experience and valuable knowledge of the premier OCR EASE export compliance software.
• Support: Gather and compile essential information from internal systems to assist the Trade Compliance team.
• Contribute: Actively participate in team meetings, group initiatives, and ongoing projects.
• Administer: Assist with basic data entry tasks related to international shipments, export documentation, and maintain electronic records.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a College University or a recent graduate with a degree focused on International Business, International Law, Business Administration Management, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a similar field. Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR and EAR regulations.
• Experience: No prior experience necessary; comprehensive training will be provided.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, willingness to learn and ask questions, ability to follow instructions, handle confidential information, and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Bonus: An interest in learning U.S. export regulations, international shipping, and corporate compliance processes, and an eagerness to leverage minors or certifications in trade compliance, customs regulations, or international law.
