The Tone:
This is an internship at Tesla, located in a local service center or designated training location. Tesla is dedicated to accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy through its electric vehicles and innovative technologies. As a Technician Trainee Intern, you will play a hands-on role in servicing customer vehicles and completing various tasks at the service center. This position is vital for supporting the service operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, and learning about the unique aspects of electric vehicle maintenance while working directly with customers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Service Vehicles: Perform comprehensive entry-level work encompassing the inspection, repair, and ongoing service of Tesla electric vehicles, ensuring they meet the company’s rigorous standards and exceed customer expectations for performance and safety.
• Operate Tools: Skillfully operate a diverse range of hand, power, and specialized shop tools, applying appropriate techniques for various vehicle maintenance and repair tasks within the service center.
• Conduct Inspections & Certifications: Execute thorough equipment inspections, perform necessary adjustments, and complete certifications. Additionally, conduct critical Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) for new cars to ensure they are fully prepared and flawless before customer delivery.
• Manage Resources & Records: Proactively maintain accurate inventory of parts and supplies, meticulously record time spent on tasks, and manage shop resources to ensure optimal operational efficiency and resource availability.
• Support Service Operations: Provide essential support for both Parts and Front of House operations as required, potentially on a rotational basis, contributing to the seamless flow of customer service and overall service center effectiveness.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An early career professional demonstrating foundational knowledge of the methods and techniques consistently used in the maintenance and repair of various vehicle types. This role offers an opportunity to build upon existing automotive understanding.
• Experience: A valid driver’s license is a mandatory requirement, and candidates must be fully capable of reliably reporting to either a designated training location or a local Tesla service center as needed for the duration of the internship.
• Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills are highly desired, as this is a customer-facing role that requires clear interaction and documentation. Candidates must be adept at working collaboratively in a team-based environment, consistently prioritize safety with a “safety first” attitude, and possess basic computer skills, including efficient navigation of web browsers and proficiency in standard applications like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Bonus: Current enrollment in an accredited Automotive program is strongly preferred, as it provides a valuable advantage and foundational knowledge directly applicable to the responsibilities of this technical internship.
