Tax Associate (High-net-worth) | Bennett Thrasher

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Bennett Thrasher, located in Denver, CO. The personal financial services/high net worth tax practice provides specialized tax solutions designed to help these clients navigate increasingly complex tax landscapes, ultimately enabling them to build and preserve their wealth effectively. This role is crucial in supporting the team’s ability to deliver these high-value services and ensure client satisfaction.

• Mission: To add value to clients and assist with all stages of the preparation process for tax compliance engagements for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

What You’ll Actually Do
Tax Preparation: Participate in the preparation of individual tax returns for high-net-worth clientele, utilizing feedback to ensure accuracy and efficiency in compliance engagements.
Financial Analysis: Conduct research, analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards, and develop summaries of this information.
Projections & Estimates: Prepare income tax projections and estimate calculations for clients, contributing to their proactive financial planning and tax management.
Client Communication & Support: Develop effective working relationships with clients and firm associates, engaging in professional communication with clients under supervision and supporting interns in their professional development.
Compliance & Organization: Maintain and organize client files in accordance with firm standards, communicate with the IRS and other state authorities when applicable, and use critical thinking to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s in accounting (Master’s preferred, 150-hour requirement threshold should be satisfied or a specific plan in place).
• Experience: One busy season of tax experience, preferably with exposure to high-net-worth individual returns.
• Skills: Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence; proven time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
• Bonus: Actively studying and preparing for the CPA certification if not already obtained.
