Tax Associate, Core Tax Services – Summer 2027 (Seattle) | BDO USA
The Tone:

This role is crucial for assisting clients with tax compliance, preparing accurate returns, and minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation of tax returns, ensuring clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
• Data Management: Collect all data needed for filing requirements, identify missing items, and communicate these to prepare returns efficiently.
• Efficiency Maximization: Utilize firm compliance software to maximize efficiency throughout the tax preparation process.
• Tax Accruals: Assist with the preparation and/or review of income tax provisions related to ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48).
• Tax Consulting: Assist in developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, primarily by decreasing current and future taxes, and identify potentially relevant tax issues.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, OR a Bachelor’s degree in another focus area with CPA certification (or Authorization to Test for the CPA exam prior to start date).
• Experience: No specific years required. The role involves utilizing educational background and working with tax software applications to complete simple tax returns.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to follow instructions as directed, ability to work effectively in a team setting, and ability to prepare simple tax returns.
• Bonus: Master’s in accountancy or taxation; eligibility to sit for the CPA exams or progress towards admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction (or progress towards Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent); accounting-based internship experience; leadership experience; and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
