Tax Analyst (Income Tax) | American Greetings

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at American Greetings, located in Westlake, Ohio. As a Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for preparing crucial work papers and tax analyses that support income tax returns and tax provision calculations for American Greetings and its subsidiaries. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate computation and recording of current and deferred taxes throughout the year, contributing to the financial integrity and compliance of the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
Tax Compliance: Participate in the preparation of consolidated federal, international, and state and local income and franchise tax returns, including all necessary supporting documentation.
Estimates & Provisions: Prepare quarterly federal, state, local, and certain international tax estimates, as well as the deferred and current tax provisions and associated journal entries.
Account Reconciliation: Participate in the monthly reconciliation of tax-related balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and proper recording.
Audit Support: Support federal and state income tax managers by gathering data required to respond to information requests from various taxing authorities during examinations.
Tax Research: Research and analyze tax issues using third-party tools, with an emphasis on current developments like Pillar 2 global minimum tax, and assist with interpreting new tax laws to determine their impact on the Company’s operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree, with Accounting or Finance major preferred.
• Experience: 1+ years preparing income tax returns of all types for a mid to large corporation and/or for a public accounting firm. 1+ year of tax provision experience, including preparation of journal entries, is preferred.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, meet specified deadlines, strong communication and organizational skills, and knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Bonus: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and/or Master’s Degree.
