Corporate Tax Accountant I | Glacier Bank

The Tone:
This is a corporate role at Glacier Bank, which may be located at an available bank division location across a nine-state footprint in AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, TX, UT, WA, or WY. Glacier Bancorp, Inc. is a regional bank holding company providing commercial banking services in 80 communities through 129 banking offices. This role is crucial for assisting the Tax Manager with the organization’s tax practices and procedures, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and supporting various tax-related projects. The position involves building strong relationships and providing exceptional customer service and support to corporate and division personnel.

• Mission: Assists with tax processes for various federal, state, and local taxes, and contributes to tax reporting requirements and planning projects.
• Tech Stack: Corptax software, PTMS system, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Silverlake operating systems of Jack Henry and Associates vendor

What You’ll Actually Do
• Compliance: Process and manage state and local sales and use tax compliance for Bank Divisions, including preparing and filing returns using Corptax software and maintaining documentation.
• Property Taxes: Coordinate and assist with preparing, reviewing, and submitting property tax declarations and processing payments within the PTMS system.
• Income Tax: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provision and reporting processes, including workpaper preparation and compiling information for internal reporting and tax return preparation.
• Documentation: Assist in writing tax manuals and procedures for different job duties, and independently manage a variety of assigned accounting projects.
• Project Support: Provide assistance on various tax-related projects for the Tax Manager and Chief Accounting Officer.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business with an Accounting major.
• Experience: 1 year of experience in the tax and/or banking industry, with advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skills: Keen eye for detail and accuracy, ability to analyze data and trends for root cause analysis, and organized with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Knowledge of tax activities, required treatment, internal controls, and reconciliation procedures; knowledge of applicable State and Federal tax regulations; public company work experience; experience with bank-related taxes; beginner experience with Silverlake operating systems; or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
