Intern, Corporate Tax Group (Summer 2027) | Martin Marietta

The Tone:
This is a Summer Tax Internship at Martin Marietta, located in Raleigh, NC. Martin Marietta is an American-based company and a leading supplier of heavy building materials including aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt, with operations spanning 28 states, Canada, and the Bahamas. The company’s Magnesia Specialties business also produces high-purity magnesia products used worldwide. This approximately 10-week program provides meaningful, hands-on experience in a corporate tax environment, offering an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world business activities. The role is vital for supporting financial reporting, business operations, and informed decision-making across this Fortune 500 organization committed to building America’s infrastructure.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support tax managers and team members in the preparation and processing of federal, state, and local tax filings and payments.
• Assist: Assist with various tax-specific calculations, reconciliations, and mining industry-related tax analyses.
• Coordinate: Coordinate jurisdictional filing requirements and maintain tax compliance calendars and deadlines.
• Analyze: Gather, organize, and analyze financial and operational data from ERP systems and other accounting tools.
• Draft: Draft responses and correspondence to federal, state, and local taxing authorities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Entry-Level.
• Experience: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to research, learn, and work independently; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with Microsoft Office applications and accounting systems.
