Summer Production Intern, WLEX | The E.W. Scripps Company
The Tone:
This is an internship at WLEX, located in Lexington, KY. WLEX is the E.W. Scripps NBC affiliate, part of a diversified media company focused on connecting communities through quality local journalism and popular entertainment brands across more than 60 stations. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the technical side of television production, working alongside experienced professionals to develop real-world broadcast skills in a live studio environment. This internship is designed to introduce motivated individuals to the broadcast industry and foster their technical capabilities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Exposure: Gain practical exposure to the broadcast television industry through daily assignments and studio work.
• Directing: Learn the operations involved in directing and technical directing within a live studio production setting.
• Production Support: Assist with various studio production duties, including camera operation, audio management, lighting setup, and graphics implementation.
• Newscast Preparation: Support the overall production team with tasks related to the preparation and execution of newscasts.
• Skill Development: Perform assigned duties to develop specific skills relevant to broadcast production and operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent is required. This position is intended for a limited duration, focusing on early career development.
• Experience: No specific prior experience required; a strong desire to learn more about the broadcast industry is essential for this role.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and the capacity to accurately follow directions.
