About the Job: Summer Intern – Software Developer

Redhorse Corporation’s Cyber Analytics team is seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern – Software Developer to contribute to data processing and analysis applications supporting a federal customer. This internship offers the opportunity to work on real-world problems, developing solutions deployed to production systems. The intern will be mentored by a senior engineer, collaborate with experienced professionals, and contribute to a meaningful project. The role provides end-to-end software lifecycle experience, encompassing requirements engineering, end-user support, development, testing, validation, and deployment within rapid iterations. This position offers a chance to contribute to national security while building professional skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop data analysis and recovery software tools using industry-standard methodologies and a mix of standard and proprietary tools.
• Provide network protocol analysis and data traffic analysis to identify malicious activity.
• Analyze secure mobile applications (Android and iOS) to identify security flaws and exploit weaknesses in encryption, secure storage, communications, and code execution.
• Document findings and communicate results effectively to customer and engineering personnel of varying technical levels.
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment and independently under guidance.

Required Experience/Clearance:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Completion of at least one year of major-specific coursework.
Knowledge and experience in object-oriented programming languages such as C#, C/C++, Java, or Python.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Desired Experience:

• Familiarity with network protocol analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump).
• Knowledge of OS internals and compiler concepts.
• Strong debugging and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP network internals and open-source tools.
• Experience with Android or iOS environments.
