This is a distinguished summer internship opportunity offered by Hillstone Restaurant Group, a privately-held collection of upscale restaurants renowned for operations such as Houston’s, Hillstone, and Bandera, among over 45 locations in vibrant cities across the country. This program is specifically designed for rising seniors who harbor a serious interest in pursuing a career path within restaurant management or culinary management. Intern placements are determined by fit within an operating team and can be assigned to various locations nationwide, with a strong focus on East Hampton, NY, and Aspen, CO. The internship provides comprehensive and unparalleled exposure to the restaurant business in its entirety, placing significant emphasis on understanding and mastering daily operations and service excellence within a high-standard hospitality environment. This role is pivotal for developing the next generation of leaders equipped to manage complex, upscale dining establishments.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Apprenticeship: Apprentice various staff-level roles to directly gain hands-on operational experience within an active restaurant environment.
• Human Resources Management: Gain an understanding of management-level functions related to staffing, including participating in hiring processes for team members.
• Staff Development & Coaching: Learn about effective training methodologies and coaching techniques utilized by management to develop restaurant staff.
• Resource & Inventory Control: Understand and contribute to inventory management practices essential for efficient restaurant operations.
• Financial Acumen: Gain exposure to management-level P&L (Profit & Loss) oversight, learning its significance in restaurant financial performance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Rising seniors with a serious interest in pursuing a career in restaurant management or culinary management.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required for participation in this program.
• Skills: Foundational understanding of operational management principles, familiarity with human resources functions (including hiring, training, and coaching), and basic knowledge of inventory control and financial oversight.
• Bonus: Previous experience working in restaurants is considered helpful, though it is not a prerequisite for application.
