Summer Construction Management Intern | Inland Asphalt Co.
The Tone:
This is a paid summer internship at Inland Asphalt Co., a CRH company, located in Spokane, WA. Inland Asphalt Co. is a well-established and growth-oriented company with over 80 years of experience in aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and comprehensive construction services. This role offers a rich, hands-on learning experience where you will contribute directly to our operations and gain valuable practical experience in construction management under the close direction of experienced supervisors and managers. • Mission: Provide hands-on support in construction projects, assisting supervisors and managers in various aspects of project coordination and execution to ensure efficient operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Coordination & Setup: Coordinate with various external agencies and traffic control subcontractors, and assist in the preparation and setup of job site work to ensure project readiness and compliance.
• On-Site Supervision & Tracking: Coordinate work effectively with subcontractors and superintendents, provide ongoing project supervision as directed, attend construction meetings, and assist in tracking daily subcontract and prime contract quantities.
• Financial & Bid Support: Assist with generating change orders for projects, help with job quantity measurements and final billing quantity measurements, and learn to review and analyze project-related data for bid preparation.
• Technical Documentation & Planning: Develop skills in reading specifications and plans, complete material and quantity takeoffs, and learn to use Estimating and Bid Tracking Software to support project planning.
• Material Quality Control: Perform various tests on aggregate production, asphalt mix, and ready-mix concrete, including gradation, moisture, oil content, density, and strength, and conduct material sampling both at the plant and in the field.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Applicants must be entering their Junior or Senior year of study, currently enrolled in a Construction Management or a closely related program.
• Experience: Must possess a current and valid driver’s license, be available to work approximately 40 hours per week during the internship period, and pass a pre-employment physical exam and controlled substance testing.
• Skills: Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately, strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads effectively.
