Summer Camp Intern, Galileo X – San Juan Capistrano | Galileo Learning

The Tone:
This is a part-time seasonal internship at Galileo Learning, located in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Galileo Learning operates nationally recognized summer day camps dedicated to empowering young innovators to change the world through innovation education. This role is crucial for supporting overall camp success by welcoming campers and families, fostering a safe and fun experience for children, and contributing to a positive camp environment. Interns gain hands-on experience in customer service, teamwork, and leadership within a mission-driven setting.

What You’ll Actually Do
Activity Leadership: Collaborate with teammates to plan and support exciting daily activities, actively joining in camp songs, chants, and ceremonies to create memorable moments and inspire joy.
Camper Supervision & Safety: Supervise campers to maintain safety and a fun, spirited atmosphere, prioritizing their well-being and creating an inclusive, energetic environment throughout the day.
Site & Material Management: Lead groups during activities and transitions while preparing materials for various camp sessions and ensuring all spaces are set up to Galileo standards for learning and safety.
Customer & Family Engagement: Welcome campers and families with enthusiasm, efficiently supporting check-in/check-out processes and interacting positively with guardians to ensure a safe and memorable camp experience.
Operational & Professional Development: Assist with site set-up and reset each day, support administrative tasks, and participate in ongoing training, feedback, and hands-on learning guided by camp leadership.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experience caring for, supervising, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, or babysitting children aged 4 to 15. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age by May 1st, 2026.
• Experience: Ability to balance multiple tasks with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm. Required to be available to work 4-6 hour shifts daily, Monday through Friday, for a minimum of 4 continuous weeks during the camp season.
• Skills: Capability to complete all pre-camp tasks, including background checks, state-mandated certifications, electronic onboarding paperwork, and online training prior to the start of camp. This role requires the ability to access and use web-based tools via a personal smart device.
• Bonus: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus. Priority is given to individuals who can commit to working for the full duration of camp, which ranges from 4 to 8 continuous weeks depending on the location.
