Summer Admissions Intern – IE | James Madison University

The Tone:

This Summer Admissions Intern role is vital for presenting the university’s strong academic programs, student life, and campus culture to prospective students and their families, ultimately contributing to the university’s admissions success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Campus Tours: Lead engaging campus tours for prospective students and their families, presenting comprehensive information about JMU’s history, academic offerings, student life, and available student services.
• Visitor Support: Actively respond to diverse visitor questions and refer guests to appropriate campus resources as needed, ensuring a helpful and accommodating experience.
• Virtual Panels: Participate in and contribute to virtual panels, sharing insights about the university experience with prospective and admitted students.
• Student Outreach: Communicate effectively with prospective and admitted students through various formats, including written correspondence and verbal interactions, providing timely information and support.
• Office Operations: Provide essential front desk support for the daily operations of the visitation program, assisting with scheduling and general office tasks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current James Madison University student enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 undergraduate credits or 5 graduate credits), who has successfully completed a minimum of one semester of coursework at JMU and plans to return for the Fall 2026 semester.
• Experience: Demonstrated availability to work up to 20 hours per week during weekdays (Monday-Friday), with preference given to students available for the entire summer duration, from May 18 to August 14, 2026.
• Skills: Possess strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills, clear written and verbal communication abilities, and embody qualities such as promptness, reliability, responsibility, professionalism, enthusiasm for JMU, flexibility, and self-motivation.
• Bonus: Experience presenting to varied groups of individuals; students who have completed a full year at JMU; availability from May 18, 2026, through August 14, 2026.
