Job Summary & Responsibilities
Lockheed Martin Aero in Palmdale, CA, is seeking a highly motivated Summer 2026 Intern Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). In this dynamic role, you will be instrumental in developing essential documentation for information system authorization. You will have the unique opportunity to collaborate directly with experienced Information Systems Security Managers and gain invaluable insights into how the Classified Cyber Security organization meticulously applies the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to effectively protect and defend complex information systems. The successful candidate will bring foundational experience and/or knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and/or fundamental IT and Cybersecurity principles.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Cyber Defense.
- Possess a DoD 8570 certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Sec+, CAP).
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and integrating computer systems and networks in compliance with government regulations.
Desired Skills (Preferred)
- Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) or Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG) requirements.
- Familiarity with National Institute of Standards (NIST) Security and Privacy controls and requirements.
- Proficiency in executing security hardening requirements on diverse LINUX and Windows Operating Systems based on approved DISA STIGs and SRGs.

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules to provide additional flexibility. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week to condensed schedules. These condensed schedules offer employees additional time away from the office, in addition to our Paid Time Off benefits.
Salary Information (Annual Base Salary Range)
Please note that the salary information provided is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers various factors when extending an offer, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market and business considerations.
- Standard Rate: For this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, or Washington DC: $31,616 – $77,788. For states not referenced above, the salary range will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
- Premium Rate: For this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York: $36,504 – $77,788. For states not referenced above, the salary range will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
Specific State Benefits (Washington State Applicants Only)
- Non-represented full-time employees: Accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
- Represented full-time employees: Accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on the start date during the calendar year.
