About the Operations Analytics Team
The Operations Analytics Team is dedicated to driving operational excellence by sourcing, analyzing, and sharing actionable data. They focus on impactful priorities that enhance performance, boost profitability, and align with Whole Foods Market’s vision. The team fosters collaboration across the business and utilizes storytelling to empower stakeholders to make informed decisions based on data.
Intern Responsibilities
• Project Participation: Contribute to projects and analyses that support the team’s goals of automation, streamlining, and achieving operational excellence.
• Data Insights and Recommendations: Provide insights, identify opportunities, and suggest action plans for stakeholders, including support on KPI metric recaps for stores, geographies, and programs.
• Business Understanding and Improvement: Deepen understanding of business drivers, identify trends, and recommend operational process improvements, including pilot tracking and correlating business processes with financial results.
• Cross-Functional Partnerships: Develop cross-functional partnerships with various stakeholders and gain knowledge of the team’s verticals (Perishables, Non-Perishables, and Culinary).
• Prioritization and Problem-Solving: Identify blockers, prioritize time and tasks effectively.
Required Skills and Experience
• Data Analysis Expertise: Experience analyzing reporting and visualizing data to identify issues, trends, or outliers.
• Data Manipulation Skills: Confidence in navigating, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets. Ability to identify new and improved methods for data manipulation and analysis.
• Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Teamwork and Community Building: Cultivates a sense of community by collaborating with fellow Team Members to achieve group or organizational goals.
• Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed (within the past year) a bachelor’s or master’s degree – Business, Economics, Finance, or Business/Data Analytics preferred.
Internship Program Details
• Duration: 10 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week)
• Dates: June 2, 2025 – August 8, 2025
• Location: Austin, Texas (not remote)
• Compensation: Paid internship
Program Highlights
• weekly Summer Event Series: weekly events for interns to connect and immerse themselves in Whole Foods Market culture. Past events have included distribution center tours, cheese tastings, volunteering, supplier visits, women in leadership panels, and more.
• Intern Buddy: Opportunity to be paired with a Whole Foods Market team member outside of the team for additional support.
• Team Member Coffee Chats: 1:1 networking opportunities with Whole Foods Market team members in your field or area of interest.
• Internship Expo: End of internship presentations where interns share their summer projects with the entire company.
