All About The Stores Executive Leadership Internship
This program is designed to immerse individuals in leading a retail team within a Target store. You will:
• Experience firsthand what it’s like to lead a retail team.
• Work closely with other managers and team members to understand Target’s retail business.
• Be introduced to multiple areas of the store’s business, with a focus on leading among the team, identifying and working towards store priorities, and delivering great guest service.

The Stores Executive Internship is designed to provide you with the skills and experience of an Executive Team Leader (ETL) role, including:
• Guest service fundamentals and building/managing a guest-first team culture.
• Guest engagement; problem-solving and resolution.
• Retail business fundamentals.
• Setting and planning department(s) monthly/quarterly workload and managing a team to deliver service and sales goals.
• Managing a team of hourly team members, team leaders, and creating business strategies and goals.
• Recruiting, selecting, and talent management of hourly team members and leaders.

Key Responsibilities
As a Stores Executive Intern, while no two days are exactly the same, your typical responsibilities will include:
• Spending time on the salesfloor and backroom, leading among team members and aligning on daily business priorities.
• Working alongside your Executive Team Lead (ETL) mentor and other leaders to understand their roles.
• Leading daily priorities (e.g., stocking shelves, ensuring a safe/welcoming environment, building displays).
• Partnering with leaders regarding team member performance through teaching, coaching, training, and timely feedback.
• Addressing team member concerns and removing hurdles for smooth operations.
• Leading/presenting at daily huddles with peer/leadership team.
• Planning daily goals and organizing plans within the building.
• Providing summaries of results and priorities to your peer/leadership team.
• Working with store leaders daily to set goals and expectations.
• Understanding business reporting and guest insights to troubleshoot and follow up on opportunity areas.
• Delivering an exceptional guest experience by empowering knowledgeable team members.
• Providing new ideas and recommending solutions to business or team opportunities.
• Taking initiative to learn how to be a Target leader by seeking growth opportunities and continuous learning.
• Committing to learning Target’s leadership expectations and using them for personal development.
• Actively participating in internship program training activities, developmental opportunities, and events.

Requirements & Expectations
While amazing training will be provided to help you become an effective leader, a few things are needed from the outset:
• Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong interest in working in retail, specifically in store management.
• Leadership skills and team-oriented thinking.
• Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude.
• Effective communication skills.
Additionally, we expect:
• Ability to access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
• Ability to interpret instructions, reports, and information.
• Ability to accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Ability to climb up and down ladders as needed.
• Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 10 pounds and occasionally moving merchandise up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment.
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); reliable, prompt, and regular attendance is necessary.
