Staff Accountant | Miller’s Ale House Restaurants

The Tone:
This is a hybrid Staff Accountant role for Miller’s Ale House Restaurants, located in Orlando, FL, with one remote day per week. Miller’s Ale House operates a chain of popular restaurants, and this position supports the financial operations that underpin their success. The Staff Accountant is critical for maintaining accurate financial records, managing general ledger activities for several restaurants, and contributing to the overall corporate accounting functions. This role is essential for ensuring the financial integrity and smooth operations across the company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Performs month-end close tasks, including posting and adjusting journal entries, preparing assigned account reconciliations, and reviewing general ledger accounts.
• Compliance and Auditing: Prepares sales tax filings for assigned restaurants and conducts weekly Accounts Payable audits to ensure accurate recording of transactions.
• Asset and Cash Management: Maintains fixed asset ledger data for assigned restaurants, manages cash paid-out audits, reviews house cash banks activity, and reconciles credit card receivables and fees.
• Inventory and Liaising: Manages gift and complimentary card inventory and distribution, maintains new restaurant opening fixed assets, and liaises with landlords for rent calculations and payments.
• Reporting and Support: Maintains required records and reports, provides support and research to field management, and assists the Controller and Director of Accounting with special projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with an Associate’s degree and equivalent experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Experience: One or more years of accounting experience, including working knowledge of general ledger systems.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; demonstrated strong attention to detail and organizational skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, and previous experience in restaurant operations.
