Staff Data Scientist, Product Analytics – Creatives | Confidential Employer
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Moloco, with primary U.S. locations including Menlo Park, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin, and other U.S. locations. Moloco builds powerful AI advertising solutions, aiming to democratize access to advanced AI historically reserved for tech giants. This Staff Product Data Scientist role is crucial as creatives are a high-leverage factor in Moloco Ads, directly shaping user interaction and advertiser value. You will be a co-owner of the creative roadmap, bringing structure and long-term thinking to a complex problem space.

• Mission: Own the data narrative across ideation, launch, and iteration of creative features and strategies to make Moloco’s creative systems a long-term competitive advantage.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Thought Leadership: Be recognized as a thought leader in the creative domain, actively influencing high-stakes product decisions regarding which creative problems to solve.
• Impact Measurement: Establish a trusted, repeatable framework for measuring creative impact that the organization rallies around.
• Feature Enablement: Enable Product Managers and Engineers to ship creative features faster and with more confidence, backed by well-designed experiments and clear success criteria.
• Performance Transparency: Reduce ad-hoc fire drills by building durable monitoring, diagnostics, and documentation to make creative performance and adoption more transparent.
• Roadmap Co-ownership: Act as a co-owner of the creative roadmap, providing analytical and product thought partnership to the Creatives team.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics) or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience (or PhD + 6 YoE) in data science, product analytics, or closely related quantitative fields, including significant product-facing IC time. Proven track record of partnering with Product and Engineering to shape roadmaps, define success metrics, and drive decisions through data.
• Skills: Ability to operate with high ownership and autonomy, including scoping ambiguous problems and driving them to closure; comfort working across time zones and with distributed teams, using strong async communication and documentation habits; excellent communication skills, able to synthesize complex analytical findings into simple, actionable narratives for various audiences.
• Bonus: Graduate or PhD degree in a quantitative field with 10+ years of experience; prior experience in ad tech, marketing science, or related domains where creatives, auctions, or optimization systems are central to performance; hands-on experience with creative analytics (e.g., format benchmarking, asset-level performance analysis, interaction or engagement modeling); experience collaborating closely with ML teams to design, evaluate, and iterate on model features and policies.
