Staff Accountant Intern | Novogradac

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at Novogradac, a national certified public accounting and consulting firm with over 900 employees and 25+ offices. The company is a recognized leader in real estate and community development, providing audit, tax, valuation, and consulting services. This role is designed to introduce future public accounting leaders to the firm’s business and empower clients, offering a real-life business experience within a growing national CPA firm.

The TL;DR

• Type: Seasonal (January 2027 through March 2027)
• Location: Flexible (Remote/Hybrid options available upon discussion)
• Pay: $27 hourly
• Mission: To provide hands-on experience as a staff accountant, exposing interns to public accounting practices, client empowerment, and various assignments including audit, tax preparation, and research.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), report writing tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engagement Completion: Complete tax and/or audit engagements for designated clients as directed by your Supervisor or Manager.
• Problem Identification: Identify and communicate potential problem areas encountered during client engagements.
• Business Research: Conduct business-specific research by gathering and analyzing data, interpreting results, compiling reports, and making recommendations to principals and partners.
• Client Relationship Development: Develop effective client relationships by demonstrating professionalism and consistent follow-through.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Working toward a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: A GPA of 3.20 or higher is required.
• Skills: Exhibit a basic understanding of accounting and tax rules; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word & Excel) and report writing tools.
• Bonus: Preferred completion of at least one Intermediate Accounting course; preferably on track or already qualified to sit for the CPA examination; an obtained degree is a plus.
